Tuesday night update: A Heat Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service, in addition to the Air Quality Alert. The Heat Advisory is in effect from 10am Wednesday to 10pm Thursday. They're expecting afternoon high temperatures up to 85 to 90º, and overnight lows around 60º. The Air Quality Alert has been extended to 5pm Thursday.
As for the heat, I'm thinking mid- to upper-80s are very likely both days - whether we hit the 90º mark will depend on how much smoke there will be...probably a better chance on Thursday than Wednesday.
The smoke was pretty bad today - I saw readings above 200 this afternoon, which is in the "Very Unhealthy" category! I put a chart of the different categories for reference, in addition to the PurpleAir map as of 9:45pm. Today's satellite view was just...yuck.
Good news is, tomorrow's skies shouldn't be as bad as today's - though probably still within that "Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups" range for most of the day. Don't hold your breath (at least figuratively-speaking, maybe do literally), but there might be even more improvement Thursday...we'll have to wait and see!
