Friday night update: Not as hot, and not as smoky today! The Plateau topped out in the mid-80s, with a few upper-80s sprinkled in. Air quality did improve, but stayed in the "Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups" range all day. The winds just haven't been strong enough to clean it out of the area.
We'll continue seeing slow, steady improvement this weekend. The Heat Advisory finally expired at 10pm tonight, and temps will drop back to near-normal for the next few days - low-80s for tomorrow (Saturday), and upper-70s Sunday. Hopefully the winds pick up just a little bit...normally, these gentle breezes make for perfect summer days, but they're not great for clearing out the air. But hey, even a little improvement is better than no improvement!
