Welcome to the last full week of August! And enjoy those late(ish) evening sunsets while you can...starting Wednesday, they're back before 8pm again.
It got smoky again this afternoon. There are a few fires due east of Snoqualmie Pass, and north of Kachess Lake and Cle Elum Lake - the Three Queens Fire, King Fire, and Goat Fire - that are all producing a good amount of smoke. (Links to the Watch Duty pages in the comment below, if you're interested.) The winds have shifted offshore (blowing east to west), which is bringing some of that smoke towards the Puget Sound. Air Quality briefly jumped into the "Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups" category late this afternoon, but is back down in "Acceptable" - though I wouldn't be surprised if we're back in "Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups" at times tomorrow (Tuesday) too.
Otherwise, another warm day on tap for tomorrow (Tuesday) - as high as the mid- to upper-80s, depending on how much smoke there is in the atmosphere. By Wednesday, winds should shift back onshore (generally west to east), which will bring cooler afternoon highs for the rest of the week, only in the mid- to upper-70s - and will hopefully clear some of the smoke out. Some chances at light precipitation towards the end of the week and into the weekend, but we'll wait a day or two to see how it's looking as we get closer. Believe it or not, we are less than a month away from the beginning of fall!
